Stacie and I got our hands dirty and glitzy making sparkly pumpkin candle holders. Super easy and pretty darn cheap, these beauties are perfect for a Thanksgiving feast.
What you need:
- mini pumpkins
- spray adhesive OR Elmer’s glue mixed with a bit of water and painted on with a brush
- glitter (we used Martha Stewart’s)
- tea light candles
What you do:
- place your tea light on the top of the pumpkin and trace around it
- carve around the traced circle and pop out the top (warning: the cuteness of the tiny top may put you over the edge)
- clean out your pumpkin
- apply a thin coat of glue all over the pumpkin
- sprinkle glitter over glue
- allow to dry
- insert tea light
- note: if your hole is a little on the big side and your tea light does not fit tightly, fill pumpkin with pea gravel or some other non-flammable substance
I can’t help but note the magical-ness of falling glitter (pixie dust, anyone?):
We made magic and a mess:
And some pretty candles:
The only sad part is that they won’t last more than one season . . .
