We plan to buy a house fairly soon. Our goal is to start looking late spring/early summer and be in our new place by late summer or early fall.
As I pin things onto my Pinterest boards, it becomes clearer and clearer that I don’t have just one style. I love mid-century modern architecture and furniture. I love more traditional homes with thick crown moldings and glass tile. I love more eclectic, colorful spaces, especially for kid’s rooms.
Our first house was a 900 square foot Cape Cod style home on a 3/4 acre lot with greenbelt space on two sides. Our second home was a brick Ranch style home on a small city lot with a view of Lake Washington. I can’t wait to shop for house number three! It will be interesting to see what type of house we buy this time around and what we do with it.
Here are some things that have caught my eye recently.
There’s an in-city farmhouse close to the girls’ school that I would love to see come on the market. It needs some curb appeal and updating. This sweet picket fence and border would be perfect!
I love this traditional dining spot:
and this modern landscape:
and this classic kitchen:
and these eclectic spaces:
See what I mean? My tastes are All. Over. The. Map. This is going to be fun!
What is your design style? Is it clearly defined or are you more like me, a little random?

I love them all!!! And it is wonderful that you can have a little bit of several styles in your home these days.
I’m all over the map also, my home does not have one style throughout. I love the shabby chic/vintage styles, but not for a whole house, more like for a creative space, office or a beach cottage would be ideal! I love all the above here too, especially the modern yard. Happy house hunting!
