Dylan finished our living room bookcases. When we first moved in one wall of our living room looked like this:
With a lot of planning and work and some help from a magic nail gun/compressor combo kit*, we have this:
I love the way they turned out! And the good news–the honeymoon period has not worn off for Dylan and his nail gun. He didn’t even freak out when, three hours before he was finished with the bookcases, I told him that I already had our next project in mind. He happily looked at the plans and started pricing materials. I’m one lucky girl.
We will eventually build out the lower section between the bookcases, replace the propane stove with a fireplace insert and add a proper mantle. Until then, we will be warm and cozy in front of the stove–well I will be anyway….while I watch Dylan build my new kitchen island. 
*edited to add: Dylan wanted me to clarify that he’s magic, not the nail gun.
