Fresh Pickings at Johnson Orchards

Mandi, the girls and I took a walk to Johnson Orchards after school on Friday. Johnson Orchards is a great spot in the middle of town that feels like it is out in the country. You can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, artsy note cards, decorative items for your home and homemade goodies galore.

The fruit harvest in Yakima has been later than usual this year due to delayed summer weather. Which is good news for us because it means gigantic peaches in October, a rare treat!

The girls had fun picking out their own fruit

Not only can you get great produce straight from the tree but they also bake fresh goods on Fridays and Saturdays. It’s the perfect place to stop to get a little treat for the weekend. We picked up three of their mini-pies; apple, caramel-apple and nectarine. It was hard to pick a favorite.

Boxed caramels, as pretty as they are delicious!

Mandi checks out the caramels....and can't resist buying one

It’s also a fun place to spend some time exploring the great things on the property.

Like fun planters

and old tractors

This was what Taylor's face looked like when she found out she couldn't eat her pie right away

But her pouty face was short-lived. She ran off for more fun with the girls.

We were a little late this year but we will be sure to go back next year in time to pick our own.

  1. My parents just brought me a box of apples and peaches from Johnson’s, so delicious! And now I am craving those caramels, I haven’t had them since Christmas. Tasty.
