Laundry Room Art II

Laundry Room Art II

Sophie and I decided to create some art for the laundry room.  I described the process to her last night at bedtime and she was sold on the idea: create a design on canvas using painter’s tape and then fill the voids with beautiful colors.

Here are a few fun examples I found here, here and on Pinterest:

We started with blank white canvas and brand new paintbrushes:

Then came our bright color palette:

We used painter’s tape to create a design on the canvas:

And then the fun part–coloring between the lines!

Next came the waiting (we’re not good at this part):

And then the revealing–Sophie’s finished masterpiece:

And mine:

A few lessons learned:

  • Ideally we would have been patient enough to use two coats of paint.
  • Also along the lines of patience, I would wait until the paint is mostly dry before removing tape–probably two hours post painting should be sufficient.

Though not perfect, we had a blast and already have plans for our next project.  And this will certainly cheer up the laundry room!
